UNESCO World Heritage treasures

Travellers inevitably discover many treasures of nature and culture in Fjord Norway. UNESCO has included three of these on its World Heritage List – considering them to be so important that they belong to all humanity, and stating that they must be preserved for future generations.

National Tourist Routes

Eighteen carefully selected roads in Norway will be designated National Tourist Routes by 2012. National Tourist Routes are roads that take you through the most beautiful scenery Norway has to offer. Half of the routes are in Fjord Norway.

The fjords of western Norway, Fjord Norway, is packed with attractions. Big or small, they all tell a story about the nature, the culture along the coast, the Norwegian people or historic events that have taken place in the region.

The region has many types of guides to choose from. City walks; wine, beer or chocolate tasting; hikes; traditional sightseeing trips; food safari... There are numerous possibilites,- what is certain is that if you bring a guide on your trip you will have access to local knowledge you would otherwise miss out on. The good local stories, seeing fantastic nature or architecture is some of the things you can experience when bringing along a guide.

Parks and centres

A visit to an adventure centre or family park is fun for both kids and adults. You can play and learn at the same time!

The region has both family parks with carousels and water slides, and exciting parks where learning and fun can be combined. You will find some of the best aquarium centres in Europe as well as parks where science is used to create exciting experiences for kids and adults. You can watch 3D films and experience the great nature in Fjord Norway from a bird's perspective. The national parks also have great expositions.

Architecture in Norway is more than the National Opera in Oslo. In Fjord Norway you will find a rich variety of interesting buildings and construction, both ultra modern design, traditional housing and specific styles of architecture such as the famous Art Nouveau buildings in Ålesund and Bryggen, the old Hanseatic wharf in Bergen.
