The cities on the west coast are technology-oriented as well as having a rich history. They take good care of their cultural heritage, with lots to see and experience for visitors. A rich cultural life and urban centres with great atmosphere combined with a short way to the great outdoors. A trip in Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal can easily be combined with spectacular hiking, sightseeing tours to the fjords or rough coastal experiences.

The four fjord counties, and not least the food county Rogaland, is also the most interesting when it comes to local food and dining. In recent years, more and more farmers and restaurants have picked up traditions of the old, and offers gourmet meals with the best products from the region.

All the cities are easily accessible by plane, bus, train or car. Bergen and Stavanger has international airports with international direct routes from more than 40 european airports. There is a number of interconnected domestic routes to the smaller airports of the region. If you drive your own car, you should consider a ferry from Hirtshals, either with Fjordline directly to Stavanger or Bergen, or the expressferry that arrives in Kristiansand, some 4 hours south of Stavanger. From the Oslo, the main airport of Norway, there are both numerous domestic flights and several daily train departures to Bergen, Stavanger and Romsdalen. On the way to Bergen you can go the spectacular detour via the Flåm Railway and by expressboat to Bergen.
