Voss - the adrenaline town

Skydiving, longboarding, extreme kayaking, paragliding, big air, freeride - the little town of Voss is Norways adrenaline-center with an international touch through it´s extreme summer festival - Ekstremsportveko.

Voss - more intense

Do you feel a need for adrenaline? Then you just need to go visit the small town of Voss located in the region Fjord Norway. Just an hour away (train, car or bus) from the capital for the fjords, Bergen, which is connected to the rest of the world through Bergen Airport Flesland.

People from Voss (vossinger) has had a weakness for extreme activities for a long time, and like it so much, that they even have their own festival every year in June/July - Ekstremsportveko. Locally named "Veko" (local slang for the week). Ekstremsportveko is the biggest sports and music festival of its kind.

If you are extreme and competitive, then these are some of the activities you may compete in or watch at "Veko":

  • kayaking: Downhill, head-to-head and more
  • skydiving
  • paragliding/hanggliding
  • freeride (ski/snowboard). Competitors are given points by the lines they choose, their style, the flow or their skiing, controll and tecnique
  • bir air (ski/snowboard). Jump high, catch air and do tricks
  • climbing (bouldering)
  • BASE: Wingsuit-jumpers neck to neck in a high speed competition
  • longboarding: stand, sit og lay down on a board with wheels and speed down the steep roads and Skjervet
  • rafting: head-to-head, slalom and more
  • riverboard: dive into the thundering water in the rivers around Voss with just a board to surf on. In Voss they compete in a mass start event
  • cycling: MTB/BMX
  • Horgi Ned: Purhaps best know for its uphill run competion. But during Ekstremsportveko they turn things up side down (of course). Now it is all about getting downhill as fast as possible on combination of bike, snowboard and kayak
  • kiting (in Vangsvatnet)

If you are NOT an extreme sport athlet, but still feel the need for some amazing fun to make your heart beat a lot faster, or simply want to learn how some of this stuff is done, then Voss is still the place to go. Attracting experts from all over the world, Voss has been able to build up and impressive menue for tourist activities.

At Skydive Voss (the local, and Norways biggest, skydiving club) anyone can skydive. You simply buy a tandem-jump, and through yourself out of an airplane after a 20 minutes lecture. Strapped safetly to the stomach of an instructor you will experience a free fall at 200 km/t! You may even order a video shoot of it all. Now if this makes you tick, you may of course order a full skydiving course (AFF) so you can fly solo.
