The trekking route around the Lysefjord is a long hike for those who want to experience a combination of high peaks, steep slopes and flat mountain plateau with spectacular fjord views.
The 140 km long trip around the Lysefjord in the county Rogaland is
divided in ten full-day legs. You will find green valleys with smal
mountain dairies. Mysterious forests and bouldery slopes. You walk along the sea, the fjord, and come up to both the pulpit rock and Kjeragbolten. The latter being a boulder wedged in a mountain crevasse
by the edge of the Kjerag Mountain, right at the 1000-meter drop to
Lysefjorden. It is no surprise that the tour offers fantastic views of
the fjord, the mountains as well as old settlements. This is a long and
laborious trekking adventure, but not harder than most can accomplish
it. Some of the legs are even quite short. These may be combined for
those who want to make a faster trip. It is also possible to pick out
some of the day trips to make a shorter trekking holiday.
