In the innermost part of the
Sognefjord, you will find the Hurrungane mountain range with alpine
peaks of more than 2000 meter above sea level.

This area offer ski
touring, and also very nice climbing challenges. A bit further west you
will find the nice peaks in the valleys Jostedalen and Sogndalsdalen,
located close to the Jostedalsbreen glacier. In this area you will
often find dry snow due to the local climate caused by the glacial
plateau. There are good ice climbing possibilties in the area. In this area the
best season is usually from February until late May, but often it is possible to ski also in June. You may either
rent a chalet, live in a mountain or valley hotel or spend your
evenings in the small town of Sogndal, less than 1 hour drive from all
the recommended ski tours of the region. The road between Turtagrø and Årdal opens normally mid-June, but Sogndal is easy to access year-round.
Lauvnostind (1950 m)
Great and safe trip that follows the north-back of the mountain all the way up. The snow is often great here, and skiing down is easy. The trip starts from the parking lot at the end of Ringsdalen. Around 900 meters rise.
Riingstinds (2124 m)
A classic trip, with a great eastern flank that will give you a ski experience for life! The trip is relatively long. First you go through the Riingdalen valley (3 km), then up a demanding steep hill before you start climbing the eastern flank of the mountain. Great view. 1100 vertical meters.
Vangsen (1757 m)
Vangsen is in Jostedalen, with the glacier as the closest neighbour. The mountain offers an amazing view, a lot of vertical meters and a long season. The trip often starts at Myri, but thanks to the road further up in the mountain you can ski sometimes even in July! Finding the path to the top can be demanding. About 1200 vertical meters.
