Ski Touring at Hardangervidda

Combine the pleasures of cross country skiing, with the adventure of exploring the wilderness! The Hardangervidda mountain plateau is perfect for nordic-style ski touring.

Gentle terrain, arctic weather and the spectacular train-depentent society of Finse are some of the ingredients. The area is the largest such plateau in Europe, with a cold year-round alpine climate and is the site of the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. You may do a multiday trip, sleeping in nice self service mountain chalets run by the Norwegian Hikers Association, or stay at the charming Finse1222 Hotel, exploring the area by skis on daytrips. At Finse you may also join a course in kiteskiing, ski sailing or dog-sledding. An adventure at Hardangervidda can be combined with a roundtrip also including the Flåm Railway, a boat cruise at the Sognefjord and a stay in the city of Bergen.
