The rock band Kaizers Orchestra was established in Bergen in the year 2000. The band is characterized by the unique style of the founders and songwriter, vocalist Janove Ottesen and guitarist Geir Zahl.
They are known for some distinctive features; texts about everyday life
in times of the world wars, performed in the native dialect from Jæren
(a small farm land region on the south-west coast of Norway). The sound
is also influenced by their innovative use of oil barrels and pump
organ as instruments. They are a tremendous live band and have won
international recognition despite its inaccessible language. The band
has released five studio albums and won several national music awards.
