Fretheim Hotel is located in Flåm between Oslo and Bergen, with the magnificent
Sognefjord and famous Flåm Railway as its closest neighbors. Fretheim Hotel was originally a farmhouse and has a history that stretches back to the end of the 1800’s, when rich lords came from England to try and catch salmon in the Flåm river. The hotel has been developed in several stages, and the venerable historical part of the hotel now stands in perfect harmony with the newer part. Today's capacity is 121 rooms, of which 18 rooms are refurbished with antique
decoration and historical ambience. In addition the hotel has a storehouse for
rent, and a conference and banqueting department.
The conscious cuisine
The hotel has chosen to call the culinary philosophy “The conscious cuisine”. It is all about selected products from the local countryside and surrounding farms. In preparing the homemade organic specialities, the hotel make diligent use of Fretheim’s smoke-house and stabbur(Norwegian storehouse on pillars). Being a guest at Fretheim Hotel is a tasty experience.
