Afrobass Parken kulturhus x Jazzsirkelen

Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 8:00 PM, AFROBASS is back at Parken Kulturhus after the crazy concert that filled the foyer to the brim last year.

For many, the concert in the fall of 2025 was a real "where were you then?" moment. Sold-out house, standing ovation and an audience that didn't want to go home. Now Lars Martin Vik and AFROBASS are back - bigger, heavier and with even more groove.

Afrobass delivers a powerful and groove-based expression where funk, jazz, desert blues and West African rhythms merge into something completely their own. The music is physical, driving and collective, with the groove at the center and improvisation as the engine.

The project is led by bassist and songwriter Lars Martin Vik, who has assembled a band of top-class musicians:

• Kouame Sereba – kalimba, vocals and percussion
• Vegard Holum – trumpet and electronics
• Heidi Kvelvane – saxophone

The band completed a very successful tour with full houses and strong response from the audience, and the concert at Parken Kulturhus stood out as one of the great musical moments of 2025.

Jazzsirkelen and Parken Kulturhus are proud to highlight a local initiative with regional and national quality. The project was developed by a musician who lives and works in the county, and is a good example of what can happen when local forces are given the opportunity to develop their own artistic projects.
