The exhibition is presented by Velferden and Jøssingfjord Science Museum (the museum has separate opening hours).
The exhibition features new works by nine visual artists, produced as part of the AVGANG / DEPONI programme over the past three years.
THE ARTISTS IN THE EXHIBITION ARE:
Anna Carin Hedberg, Ebba Moi, Hanna Sjöstrand, Linda Lamignan, Lisa Torell, Pierre Lionel Matte, Simon Daniel Tegnander Wenzel, Siri Austeen and Tove Kommedal.
The works are rooted in the landscape of Sokndal and in personal encounters with the extensive environmental impact of mining. Since the programme began in 2023, meetings with researchers, local residents and representatives of the mining industry have contributed to a broad and nuanced understanding of the situation in the community. Drawing on these experiences, together with their own references and strong artistic practices, the artists have created works that collectively form a multifaceted exhibition exploring the themes of AVGANG / DEPONI.
The exhibition includes sound art, installation, painting, video, performance, sculpture and workshops. The works are presented both indoors and outdoors at Sandbekk, with a dedicated section at Jøssingfjord Science Museum.
