The Art Friends’ Association invites you to two special experiences in Sandnes:

PROGRAMME AT VITENFABRIKKEN
Limited to 80 participants
10.15 am – Meet at the entrance to Vitenfabrikken
10.30 am – Welcome and coffee
11.00 am – Lecture by Mrs Målfrid Grimstvedt, former Chief Conservator at Jærmuseet, who played a key role when Figgjo transferred its collection and archive to the museum
11.45 am – Lunch (ciabatta)
12.15 pm – Lecture by Mr Sigbjørn Stangeland, Operations Manager at Vitenfabrikken. He has also worked with collection management at Jærmuseet and local history exhibitions at Vitenfabrikken. Mr Stangeland is part of an exhibition group working on a new exhibition about the clayware industry in Sandnes, expected to open in 2027
1.00 pm – Finish at Vitenfabrikken

Vitenfabrikken: NOK 400 per person (including lunch)
The theme at Vitenfabrikken is clay as a raw material and the development of the clayware and brickworks industry in Sandnes. Since 2011, Jærmuseet has worked together with Figgjo to preserve this important history.
The lectures will cover the different pottery works and notable designers from various periods, including Ragnar Grimsrud, Turi Gramstad Oliver, Olav Joa and Olav Hetland. There will also be information about a new ceramics exhibition opening in 2027.
PROGRAMME AT SANDNES TOWN HALL
Limited to 45 participants
1.15 pm – Meet at the main entrance to Sandnes Town Hall
1.30 pm – Guided tour by art historian Therese Hauger, Senior Adviser for Art in Municipal Buildings and Outdoor Spaces in Sandnes
2.30 pm (3.00 pm) – Closing
At Sandnes Town Hall, participants will see, among other works, the sculpture by Mikkel Vettre as well as a wide range of impressive artwork.
