Winner of this year's Booksellers' Prize and Brage Prize in the non-fiction category, Åsne Seierstad, comes to the Ålesund Literature Festival to talk about her latest book, Ufred – a book about our enormous neighbor, Russia, which many people think about, but few really know what's underneath.
Seierstad writes about the young boys who are sent to war in Ukraine, about life in the Siberian countryside, about propaganda and about the increasingly pressured opposition that tries to resist an authoritarian regime.
Åsne Seierstad is one of Norway's most widely read and critically acclaimed non-fiction authors, with titles such as The Booksellers in Kabul, The Offended – Stories from Chechnya and One of Us.
The event is part of the project "Literature in a Time of Crisis – Reading as Preparedness and Resilience", organized by Ålesund Library with support from Fritt Ord.
