When Synnøve Sakura Heggem grew up at a boarding school in Japan, she found herself – unknowingly – caught between a victim and an abuser. Only as an adult did she discover the terrifying truth about her own father, after seeing the front page of Vårt Land in a staff room at Blindern.
In Requiem for Dad, Heggem recounts the long and demanding journey towards being able to look her father in the eye – and explores what such revelations do to a person, a family, and a life.
Synnøve Sakura Heggem is a priest, musician, intellectual historian, Dr theol., author and Grundtvig scholar.
