Zum Hauptinhalt

The evening of Arne Garborg's 175th birthday will be celebrated in the poet's homeland: Jæren. Programme host Hilde Mathilde Zahl asks: What is typical of Jæren, in terms of language and temperament? What are the best Jæren expressions? What are the most untruthful words? How have Jæren and the Jæren dialect changed since Garborg lived?

The sofa panel includes former editor Kjell Olav Stangeland, author Kjell Arild Pollestad, director of the Garborg Centre, Inger Undheim, and Åse Wetås, Sandnes native and director of the Language Council.

Many people are familiar with Hilde Zahl's enthusiasm and curious voice from her time working at NRK radio, including as programme director for Språksnakk. In addition to discussions about Jæren dialect, there will be readings by Pollestad and Stangeland, and musical interludes by Klepp mannskor and Jarle Obrestad.

This event will be mainly in Norwegian.
