Legendary Casiokids are back in full force!
After ten years of waiting, the Bergen-based band have already powered through a scorching comeback year and released no fewer than two new albums. Their legendary live shows—featuring elements such as four-metre-tall dancing velour monsters and irresistibly danceable synth-pop with quirky West Norwegian lyrics—have earned top scores from concert reviewers at both Gaffa and Stavanger Aftenblad. They have just released their fifth studio album, Sjelden vare, to glowing reviews, and everything points towards more pure, euphoric good vibes at clubs and festivals in 2026.
Between 2004 and 2014, the band went on a wild journey across the globe. They played thousands of club and festival shows in nearly 40 countries, and songs like Fot i hose, Finn bikkjen and En vill hest received frequent airplay on the BBC, Radio France and American college radio. They were signed to Universal, Moshi Moshi and Polyvinyl, nominated several times for the Spellemann Awards, and received a NOK 1 million grant from A-ha. International heavyweights such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and NME heaped praise on the band—the latter calling them “the best thing to come out of Norway since black metal”.
Then they suddenly took a ten-year siesta, during which the band members explored other musical projects. Vocalist Fredrik Vogsborg alone has won three Spellemann Awards and worked with artists such as Aurora, Young Dreams, The Megaphonic Thrift, Silja Sol, Strange Hellos, Real Ones, Hjerteslag and Amazing Space.
In 2024, the band finally returned with the critically acclaimed comeback album Tid for hjem, released on Jansen Records.
Now they have truly awakened from hibernation, having released even more new music in the form of the brand-new album Sjelden vare.
