Their Christmas album ‘Barnet i krybben’ (The Child in the Manger) was a breath of fresh air with its atmospheric and unique Christmas universe, generating excitement and favourable reviews in the national press. Now sisters Ingelin Reigstad Norheim and Hildegunn Garnes Reigstad are once again ready to create a magical Christmas concert experience for their audience, with their beautiful reinterpretations of well-known Christmas songs and their own compositions that have become Christmas classics for many, such as ‘Fangens julekveld’ (The Prisoner's Christmas Eve), ‘Julens sang’ and ‘The Shepherd Song’. The church is sure to be filled with beautiful sounds and goose bump-inducing arrangements this evening!
The sisters in Garness have become known for their playful musicality on stage. After completing an extended duo tour this spring with music from their recently released album ‘Restart’, they are eager to explore their Christmas repertoire in duo format. ‘It's amazing that two people can make so much music,’ is a comment often heard from the audience. Garness produces rich soundscapes and great dynamic variation with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, ukulele, harps and glockenspiel, but there is also plenty of room for the twin sisters' harmonious vocal harmonies and magical stripped-down moments. The hopeful and powerful message of great joy for all people, the child in the manger, is central to Garness' Christmas concerts.
Garness has appeared on TV programmes such as ‘I kveld’, ‘Beat for Beat’, ‘Absolutt Norsk’, “Kjempesjansen”, ‘God morgen, Norge’, ‘Håp i ei gryte’ and ‘Jul på Slottet’. They have collaborated with artists such as Marit Larsen, Sigvart Dagsland, Jonas Alaska and Odd Nordstoga. They were introduced to a large proportion of the Norwegian people when they held the traditional Christmas concert ‘Kvelden før kvelden’ on NRK1 on Christmas Eve. Garness has released five studio albums, the latest of which, ‘Restart’, was released on 21 February this year. The single ‘Dele drømmen’ from this album has been listed on NRK P1 since the turn of the year and has been in frequent rotation on the A-list on the same channel this spring.
