The duo Garness is finally returning to Frøyland and Orstad Church for a Christmas concert! Their Christmas album “Barnet i krybben” arrived as a fresh breeze with its atmospheric and unique holiday universe, earning widespread acclaim in the national press.
Now sisters Ingelin Reigstad Norheim and Hildegunn Garnes Reigstad are ready once again to create a magical Christmas concert experience, with beautiful reinterpretations of well-known carols and original compositions that have become holiday classics for many, such as “Fangens julekveld”, “Julens sang”, and “The Shepherd Song”. The church is sure to be filled with harmony and goosebump-inducing arrangements.
The sisters are known for their playful musicality on stage. After completing a duo tour this spring featuring music from their recently released album “Restart”, they are eager to explore their Christmas repertoire in a duo format. Audience members often comment: “It’s amazing how two people can create so much music.”
Garness produces rich soundscapes and dynamic variety with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, ukulele, harps, and glockenspiel, while also leaving space for the sisters’ harmonised vocals and magical stripped-down moments. Their hopeful and powerful message—celebrating the joy of the Christ child—is central to every Garness Christmas concert.
Garness has appeared on TV programs such as “I kveld”, “Beat for Beat”, “Absolutt Norsk”, “Kjempesjansen”, “God morgen, Norge”, “Håp i ei gryte”, and “Jul på Slottet”. They have collaborated with artists including Marit Larsen, Sigvart Dagsland, Jonas Alaska, and Odd Nordstoga. They reached a broad Norwegian audience with the traditional Christmas concert “Kvelden før kvelden” on NRK1 on Christmas Eve. Garness has released five studio albums, the latest “Restart” on 21 February this year. Their single “Dele drømmen” has been on NRK P1’s playlist since the start of the year and enjoyed heavy rotation on the station’s A-list this spring.
