Førdefestivalen is thrilled to bring music to Vesle Kinn! This year, Caamaño & Ameixeiras visit the popular beer café in Florø.Caamaño & Ameixeiras have established themselves as a fresh and distinctive voice on the Galician folk music scene. Since forming in 2018, the duo has gained significant attention both in Spain and internationally, thanks to their personal and contemporary approach to Galician folk music and dance.
Rooted firmly in traditional music and dance, their work is shaped with deep respect and refined musical instinct. New elements are woven seamlessly into the tradition without losing its grounding. With strong formal musical training, Caamaño & Ameixeiras stand out for their technical excellence and expressive presence. The result is an energetic and confident sound, often highlighted as an important renewal of Galician folk music.
The duo explores the intertwined roots of Galician, Basque, Balkan and Celtic traditions, creating a rich and vibrant musical landscape.
They have also made a strong mark on record. Their debut album Aire! (2021) received widespread acclaim, earning several awards and featuring collaborations with established artists. Two years later, they followed up with Quitar o aire, further developing their sound and opening new paths within Galician and Iberian traditional music.
Caamaño & Ameixeiras are a young and fearless duo, challenging the boundaries of their own traditions. Together they create a living musical universe where the old paths also lead forward.
