‘Daddy’s Little Boy’ is a monologue written and performed by Sven Henriksen. Drawing on his own experiences, he tells the story of a childhood marked by violence and strict religious constraints.
A personal story
The performance takes the audience back to the 1960s and follows a boy growing up with a violent father and within the Jehovah’s Witnesses community. Throughout his childhood, he faces challenges that leave a deep mark, but which also shape the path ahead in his life.
The struggle for freedom
The story depicts how he gradually breaks free from the constraints of his upbringing and seeks a life on his own terms. At the same time, the performance shows how freedom also brings with it new challenges and choices.
On courage and resilience
‘Daddy’s Little Boy’ is a story of perseverance, identity and the ability to pick oneself up again. The audience meets a man who, despite adversity, finds love, his own voice and a career as an actor and writer.
