It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Christmas Play in Christmas Village. For the 15th time, we will tell the heartwarming story of Mary and Joseph as they travel across Jæren on “Christmas Eve itself”.
The performances are held outdoors in the evenings during December, where the weather adds to the exotic experience. It is wonderful to experience theatre outside and feel the interaction between the outer and the inner, between action and weather. The audience sits in a covered stand while the actors perform on an open-air stage.
The venue is only a 7-minute drive from Sandnes city centre.
The play was written by Arnt Olav Klippenberg, who, together with Øystein Ellingsen and Ingvar Hovland, also composed the music. The main roles are played by Anh Vu, Ole Alexander Mæland, Tone Salomonsen, and Pål Magnor Kvammen. In addition, nearly 40 amateur actors perform on stage. The director is Torfinn Nag.
After the performance, the audience is invited into a warmly heated Christmas Village chapel, where the festive spirit is guaranteed to fall into place.
Adjacent to the play is a wonderful Christmas market selling local products. The market is open one hour before the performance and after it finishes.
