Englandsfarere - film i Ålesund

The film is based on the war novel of the same name by Sigurd Evensmo. We follow the two Norwegian resistance fighters Harald (Knut Wigert) and Arild (Jørn Ording) who are on the run from the Gestapo. They initially want to cross the border to Sweden, but change their minds and find a place on a small boat that will go from Ålesund to Great Britain. The boat has problems, and they never make it across the North Sea. The Norwegians are discovered by German soldiers and captured. The dark backdrop to the story is that the author, Evensmo, was one of the 27 passengers on board the “Viggo” when the Rinnan gang attacked Ålesund in 1942. Evensmo survived, but 19 had to pay with their lives.
