Leif Harald Forthun – Exhibition
Leif Harald Forthun works with sculpture, drawing and painting. He studied at Bjergeland from 1974 to 1977, specialising in drawing, form and colour, and display design, and was a student of the artist Kjell Pahr-Iversen from 1977 to 1978. Forthun has worked as a draughtsman and illustrator for many years.
Previous exhibitions include Kulturukeutstillingen in Sola (1984), Sola Kulturhus (1987, 1988), Café Sting in Stavanger (1989), Galleri Sølvberget in Stavanger (1990) and the Western Norway Exhibition (1990, 1991).
As a young boy, Forthun became fascinated by the illustrations in Heimskringla, particularly Halfdan Egedius’ depiction of the seiðr-men at Skratteskjær – an image conveying resistance, pride and surrender within a single expression.
