Welcome to the opening of the exhibition Survive by textile craftswoman Monika Ravnanger. The exhibition opening is free.

The design of textiles has had a great impact on our ancestors' ability to live in the harsh climate here in the North, and on their ability to get out to sea and into the world. Monika draws inspiration from the open, raw landscape, the textures, layers and shapes of nature. She has a passion for our textile heritage, and is fascinated by our ancestors' knowledge of survival, textiles, fiber and technique. In this exhibition, she has connected past, present and future and worked with textiles inspired by the knowledge and landscape our ancestors lived in. The textiles are from a stay at the Iceland Textile Center in Blönduós and her work in the the warp-wighed loom.

Monika Ravnanger is a textile craftsman at Osterøy Museum, a textile nerd and has for many years immersed herself in our textile heritage, with a focus on textile craft techniques. She has a major in clothing design at the Oslo Academy of the Arts. Her job is to secure and continue the practical knowledge of the warp-weighed loom and other textile craft techniques.
