Zum Hauptinhalt

As the world grows more divided and distances between people increase, we need spaces where we can come together and feel a sense of community. Music brings us there. It crosses borders without passports and speaks languages beyond words.

Under dark skies, through uncertainty and unrest, people still find songs to hold on to. Songs to share.

This evening brings together artists from different parts of the world, each carrying their own stories and traditions:

Tarabband and Nadin Al Khalidi present songs of exile, identity and hope.
Jawa keeps the Sufi musical traditions of Aleppo alive together with their whirling dervish.
Daughters of Donbas bear witness to the consequences of war for Ukrainian children.
Seckou Keita, Olav Torget and Åsne Valland Nordli show how music can build bridges across cultures and borders.

Norwegian singers Vera Synne and Martin Steinum Brun moved audiences around the world during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo City Hall last November.

The evening is hosted by journalist and author Rima Iraki, known from NRK’s Dagsrevyen and Urix, and currently featured with her book Escape from Palestine.

Together with the artists, she invites the audience into an evening of reflection, connection and shared listening. Because when we listen together, we share more than music. We share hope.

And perhaps that is where it begins.
