Frida Amundsen has evolved from a youthful pop sensation into one of Western Norway’s most exciting and experienced songwriters.
Frida Amundsen first broke through in 2011 with the light pop song “Closer”, followed by a series of radio singles including “Rush”, “Opp” and “Told You So”. She released two albums, September Blue and What You Asked For, before taking an extended break from her career as an artist to focus on songwriting for other performers across different genres.
She has written songs for Norwegian artists including DePresno, Peder Elias, Sandra Lyng, Angelina Jordan and many others. After several years in London, she also began writing for DJs and electronic artists such as Afrojack, Gorgon City, MK, Bunt. and Kaskade.
In 2022, after moving back to her home village, she decided to finally pursue a dream she had always carried with her: singing in Norwegian.
She began translating well-known songs into Norwegian on social media, generating several million views in total with videos featuring songs such as “When You Say Nothing At All”, “Save Your Tears”, “Nothing Else Matters” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.
In April 2025, she released her first original song, “Spor”, from the Norwegian-language album she is currently working on. The song was playlisted on P1’s A-list for more than 19 weeks and was also accompanied by a video created in collaboration with Sylvsmidja, a Voss-based company specialising in handcrafted traditional Norwegian jewellery and bunad silverwork.
