Zum Hauptinhalt

‘Gutjejente’ is based on Maiken Schjøll Frisch's own upbringing and experiences with body image, expectations and identity. After its premiere in Oslo, the performance was praised by Dagsavisen with a rating of 5, describing it as personal, political and highly topical.

A solo performance that challenges

The performance explores narrow-mindedness, the fight for rights and the debate on gender expression. Maiken uses her own experiences as a framework for bigger questions: What is a woman? What is gender, sexual orientation and otherness? Her story is presented with the aim of challenging, provoking and informing.

A direct and honest expression

As a self-described tomboy from Abildsø who became a woman, she reflects on what identity really means. She promises to do her best to keep her tongue straight, even though she admits that it is not always easy.

Being different is being human

The performance takes the audience into an open and vulnerable conversation, inspired by Kim Friele's clear message that difference is part of being human.
