Hanna Paulsberg: Belonging Parken kulturhus x Jazzsirkelen

This is a concert we have long wanted to offer the Ålesund audience: four of Norway's most prominent jazz musicians in the face of the music of Keith Jarrett's legendary European Quartet.

In 1974, Keith Jarrett recorded Belonging at Arne Bendiksen Studio in Oslo, together with Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christensen. The album was the start of Jarrett's European Quartet and today stands as a milestone in European jazz: open, melodic, lyrical and full of space.

Hanna Paulsberg, Vigleik Storaas, Trygve Fiske and Hans Hulbækmo approach the material with both respect and freedom. This is not a copy of the original, but a live concert experience where timeless melodies are given new colors, new energy and new improvisational spaces.

The project was first presented as a commission for the Oslo Jazz Festival in 2024, where the concert was met with full houses and a brilliant response. Now the quartet is coming to Ålesund with an expanded version — even more deeply rooted in the music, zeitgeist and sound of Jarrett's European Quartet.
