About the evening’s programme

The Little Preparedness Book with Henning Carr Ekroll

Henning Carr Ekroll visits Randaberg Public Library’s literature and storytelling festival, Hjemsøkt, with an engaging talk about The Little Preparedness Book.

The event takes place at Tungenes Lighthouse, one of the region’s most iconic cultural venues.

Ekroll shares practical advice, reflections and experiences relating to everyday preparedness – how we can all be a little better prepared when unexpected situations arise.

The talk combines knowledge, humour and practical tips, and is suitable for anyone interested in personal preparedness, societal security, or simply non-fiction that connects both with the mind and everyday life.

Hybrid War with Trine Hamran, Kirsi Helkala and Tom Hetland

Propaganda and disinformation spread through digital channels are among the activities described by the Norwegian Defence University College as non-military hostile actions. Hybrid warfare also involves a range of other methods, including conventional military activity.

Former journalist and Russia specialist Tom Hetland will be in conversation with researcher Kirsi Helkala and author Trine Hamran. The starting point is Hamran’s book Hybrid War, which raises questions about what lies ahead for Norwegian society when one of its neighbouring countries poses a security threat.

While some of the events Hamran refers to in the book have been covered by Norwegian media, we believe it is nevertheless important to explore these issues in greater depth in an open forum. This is particularly relevant when one possible consequence of hybrid warfare may be increased state surveillance, restrictions on freedom of expression and, perhaps paradoxically, more favourable conditions for extremist forces to create greater polarisation and unrest in society.

The events have received support from the Fritt Ord Foundation and Rogaland County Municipality.
