What became of the missionary children?
For several decades, Norwegian missionaries sent their children to boarding schools around the world. Liv Kristin Steen Brundtland was one of them. Many experienced separation, neglect and abuse, whilst their parents followed their ‘calling’ and spread the Gospel amongst the ‘unreached’. *In My Care* is the story of growing up at a boarding school in Taiwan, of missing one’s parents, of a ‘house father’ who was supposed to be a father figure but let her down – and of a closed world where loyalty overshadowed the children’s needs. It is also the story of a long and harrowing struggle to be heard, and for the experiences of missionary children to become a truthful and recognised part of missionary history.
Liv Brundtland will be interviewed by author and illustrator Lene Ask, who has herself written and illustrated works about missionary children.
The event is supported by Rogaland County Library.
This is a ‘pay what you like’ event, which means you choose how much you wish to pay.
