Jo Berger Myhre is a highly sought-after and established bass player who has added depth to the music of artists such as Nils Petter Molvær, Frida Ånnevik and Geir Sundstøl, as well as in his own projects such as Splashgirl, Djupet and in duo with Ólafur Björn Ólafsson (Sigur Rós).
He releases his solo albums on the London-based quality label RareNoise Records. The album "Unheimlich Manoeuvre" (2021) demonstrated Myhre's peculiarities both as a musician, composer, producer and technician. He operates in the layer between improvisational music, ambient and with inspiration from his studies of classical Iranian music. The music balances between the beautiful and the brutal, and how Myhre carefully and creatively manipulates the sound of bass guitar and double bass with analogue electronics. He creates hypnotizing moods together with a band consisting of powerhouses on the Norwegian creative music scene.
In the winter of 2026, Myhre's new studio album "PENTA" will be released, where the music is stretched further beyond harmonic, rhythmic and sonic frameworks.
Expect a soundscape and a musicianship that is at the same time intensely listening and sonically overwhelming at the intersection of the structured and unpredictable.
