Dag Steinfeld will give a lecture based on his book *The Man Who Went Free – Police Inspector Knut Rød and the Deportation of the Norwegian Jews*. The book examines Knut Rød’s role in the deportation of Norwegian Jews and the subsequent legal proceedings.
In 1942, Knut Rød organised the deportation of Jews from Norway to Auschwitz-Birkenau. After the war, he was put on trial but acquitted and reinstated to his position in the police force. The central question in Steinfeld’s book is how this could have happened.
