New ground- and space-based super-telescopes are revolutionizing our understanding of the Universe. New "windows" into space offer unique insights into dramatic, mysterious, and spectacular phenomena. Last year brought evidence of life on both a distant planet and Mars; this year, we might discover another planet in our Solar System, and we are on the verge of uncovering what the Universe is made of and how the first stars and black holes formed.

New telescopes reveal violent stellar explosions and stars performing a cosmic dance before merging; we are witnessing the first galaxies, supermassive black holes, and stars following the Big Bang. Discoveries—and surprises—are coming thick and fast, revealing new mysteries! We observe black holes forming or merging on a daily basis, and we may soon discover wormholes—potential shortcuts to other universes!
