THE GREAT CHRISTMAS PLAY

Christmas in Julebygda would not be complete without the Christmas Play. For the 16th time, the heartwarming story of Mary and Joseph making their way across Jæren on Christmas Eve itself will be brought to life.

The performances take place outdoors in the evenings in December, with the weather helping to make this a truly unique experience. There is something wonderful about experiencing theatre outdoors and feeling the interplay between the external and internal worlds, between the action and the weather. The audience sits in a covered grandstand, while the actors perform on an open-air stage.

The venue is just a 7-minute drive from Sandnes city centre.

The play was written by Arnt Olav Klippenberg, who also created the music together with Øystein Ellingsen and Ingvar Hovland.
The leading roles are played by Karin Hodne, Frikk Hana, Tone Salomonsen and Brigt Skrettingland. In addition, nearly 40 amateur actors take to the stage. The director is Espen Hana.

After the performance, the audience is invited into the wonderfully heated Julebygda Chapel, where the Christmas spirit is guaranteed to fall perfectly into place.

In connection with the play, there is a lovely Christmas market selling local products. The market is open for 1 hour before the performance and after the perfomance has finished.

Please note that the performance will be conducted in Norwegian.
