"Patti Smith in Norwegian" is a performance featuring singer Kari Harneshaug and guitarist Kyrre Laastad, who present musical interpretations of Patti Smith’s songs in Nynorsk. The performance is framed by readings from Patti Smith’s memoirs, delivered by Brit Bildøen.


The translation project received support from the Arts Council Norway (Literature Committee), and the repertoire selected by Kari Harneshaug was translated by Samlaget authors Brit Bildøen, Agnes Ravatn, and Ragnar Hovland. The material spans the period from *Horses* (1975) to *Banga* (2012). Brit Bildøen has also translated several of Patti’s memoirs: *Just Kids*, *M Train*, and *Year of the Monkey*. The show has been performed at numerous events and literary festivals across Norway, including Dei nynorske festspela, Bøker i Bø, Det Vilde ord, the Munch Museum, and De litterære festspill in Bergen.


Kari Harneshaug is originally from Harøya but is currently based in Trondheim. A singer and songwriter, she has released four albums.
