Plato's Drinking Party draws inspiration from Plato's Symposium, in which guests discuss the many facets of love. In this interpretation, the audience encounters Plato as a bartender, Diotima as a nightclub singer and Socrates as a regular patron – a theatrical universe that brings philosophical questions into the present day.
Love seen from multiple perspectives
As in the original work, different people are invited to share their thoughts on love. Each evening brings new voices into the room, ensuring that no two performances are alike. This creates a vivid and varied picture of the mystery of love.
An intimate performance for adults
The performance is staged at Garasjebryggeriet over several dates and lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes without an interval. The audience is treated to a celebration of love with speeches, wine and song – an experience created for adults who want a different and thought-provoking evening.
