Uncertainty Dance as Preparedness

In WHITEOUT, the audience encounters gnawing feelings — a sense of unease. Everyone is exposed to a strange white light and a state called “whiteout.”

When visibility is drastically reduced and filled with snow, familiar reference points disappear.

Could our collective blindness to the climate crisis be described as a “whiteout”?

Three dancers create traces, get stuck, and carefully extricate themselves. Together, audience and dancers experience a shared, arduous state where ambiguous visions appear. Hallucinations — or are you so saturated with observation that you slip into another state? How does it feel to face uncertainty together, and what does this experience generate?

In our attempts to meet the necessary climate measures, everyone experiences being overwhelmed and exhausted by the task’s apparent impossibility and lack of mastery. Rather than viewing uncertainty solely as negative or problematic, the performance opens up a more open and exploratory approach.

The performance becomes an argument that even seemingly hopeless struggles are never lost and reflects the historical changes that have emerged from darkness.
