The war and its consequences had a profound impact on many aspects of society, not least on schoolchildren and the education system. During certain periods, schools were occupied by German forces, forcing pupils and teachers to continue lessons in alternative locations.
This was also the case at Håland School. Morten Sandland, parish priest in Ræge and former Håland parish, will share stories passed down from his grandfather, Ingvald Omdal, about the challenges of serving as headteacher during those difficult years.
After the war, Omdal became headteacher at Tananger School, now known as Haga School.
