Zum Hauptinhalt

December quickly fills up with gifts, trees, carols, and baking. But December is so much more than that. It is a time for family, but also loneliness. A time for love, but also longing. Ryfylke’s songs embrace life’s highs and lows, and in this concert they aim to capture the atmosphere that December brings. We hope the audience will lower their shoulders and enjoy a beautiful experience with us during the busy pre-Christmas season. And yes—there will also be some Christmas spirit, with songs such as Kvide jul and Ei striba med lys.

Ryfylke, or Ryfylke Visegruppe, was well known across Norway in the 1980s and 1990s and has been active, more or less, since its founding in 1978. They may well be the last remaining group from the Norwegian “visewave” of the 70s and 80s.

Their repertoire spans from old folk tunes, ballads, and lullabies from Ryfylke to newer original songs, released across seven productions. Songs such as Dine auer, Kjerestepar, Fysste morningen, and Vie dagen te solå are familiar to many. The lyrics and melodies are written by local composers and authors and produced by the group themselves.

Today, the group presents an acoustic sound with one vocalist and four instrumentalists. Their musical trademarks are string instruments and rich vocal harmonies. The group currently consists of: Anita Nymann Tønnessen (vocals), Rolf Kloster (guitar and vocals), Stein Endresen (guitar and vocals), Torje Fanebust Ås (bass), and Tommi Haukland (percussion, flute, and vocals).

Doors open: 5:30 PM. Refreshments available.

The concert takes place at Fyret in Randaberg, only a 15-minute drive from Stavanger.
