Welcome to a magical St. Lucy’s celebration at the Coastal Museum! We often think of St. Lucy’s Day as the day of light, but according to folklore, it was also the most dangerous night of the year—a long, dark night when dark forces like “Åsgårdsreia” and the demon Lussi were on the prowl. In this sense, St. Lucy’s Day is a rich and magical occasion where the tension between light and darkness is vividly apparent.
Naturally, the day calls for some delicious “Lussekatter” (saffron buns), you can enjoy this traditional pastry in the café. There will be a St. Lucy’s workshop where you can craft a "star boy" hat or a handmaiden’s crown made of tinsel. Afterwards, you can show off your creation in the St. Lucy’s procession in the Boat Hall. This is a truly atmospheric procession, so find the lyrics for the song “Luciasangen”, and start practicing in front of the mirror!
