The course is divided into 3 parts:
- 3-hour theory session on 2 March (mandatory)
- Practical workshop on 25 March (optional)
- Performance on 1 April (optional)

About the course:
The Standup Stavanger course is led by Kjetil Melkevik. Focus areas include joke structure, joke writing, various types of jokes, different types of punchlines, storytelling techniques, stage presence, and performance skills. Numerous practical examples illustrate the theory. A methodical approach is followed, golden tips are shared, common pitfalls are highlighted, and all questions are addressed.
All registrants have the opportunity to perform at Grottene, Folken.
About Kjetil Melkevik:
Kjetil Melkevik has over 10 years of experience as a standup comedian and has performed more than 800 times across over 100 cities and towns. Performances have taken place in cultural venues, Latter in Oslo, and Ole Bull in Bergen, alongside collaborations with some of Norway’s top comedians. Kjetil has opened for performers including Rune Bjerga and TJ Miller (HBO). The debut solo show "Fantomsmerter" premiered in 10 cities in 2020, while the second solo show "Tenk hvis solen har sprengt?" was featured at the Standup Festival at Folken in 2024. In 2025, the show "Kjetil Melkevik: 10 Years on Stage" presents a new perspective on the life of a standup comedian.
Stavanger’s standup scene has become increasingly attractive in recent years, with strong partnerships, professional venues, and an engaged audience. Opportunities to perform continue to grow.
