Steinar Raknes and Unni Wilhelmsen are two of the most distinctive artists in the country, and together they make a powerhouse of presence, energy and musicality. This is Americana with a Norwegian soul: raw, warm and full of life.
Raknes plays only double bass, but makes it sound like a whole band. With fingerpicking, effects and looping he builds everything from understated soundscapes to driving rhythms, while Wilhelmsen's voice winds around, over and through the soundscape with playfulness and precision. The interplay between them is intuitive, funny and unpredictable, a free flow of musical abundance.
The repertoire consists of Raknes' own songs from the Stillhouse series, Chasing the Real Things, On the Road, Due, Drone and TID, and hand-picked interpretations of among others Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Depeche Mode. The common denominator is honesty, musicality and stories that hit home.
Stillhouse Duo is known as one of the best live bands in the country, with a rare ability to communicate with the audience. Genuine, spontaneous and with infectious joy of playing.
