Åge Sten Nilsen & The Show Must Go On ensemble pays tribute to Queen's first golden years 1975–1976.
The British band Queen is one of the greatest bands in modern music history. The film «Bohemian Rhapsody» and the musical «We Will Rock You» have helped keep the music and the band alive and relevant for new generations as well. In recent years several popular tribute bands have carried their music forward on Norwegian stages.
Åge Sten Nilsen and his band members started their tribute to Queen back in 2007. Up until 2018 they toured the country with Norway's largest tribute production, «The Show Must Go On, a grand tribute to Queen», reaching over 600,000 audience members. Mona Levin in Aftenposten named Åge Sten Nilsen «Scandinavia's best Freddie Mercury interpreter».
Åge has since reunited his legendary band Wig Wam, which through the theme song «Do Ya Wanna Taste It» in the HBO Max series «Peacemaker» has had a new renaissance, with tours and festival appearances in the USA and Scandinavia.
But now they are at it again with a Queen tribute unlike any other. In «Queen, The Golden Years» the focus is on the group's first golden era, 1975–1976, when they created the classic albums «A Night at the Opera» and «A Day at the Races», and of course released the groundbreaking superhit «Bohemian Rhapsody».
In this period the band created some of their most beautiful ballads, such as «Love of My Life» and «You Take My Breath Away», some of their toughest rock songs, such as «Tie Your Mother Down» and «I'm in Love with My Car», and great anthems such as «Somebody to Love», «The Prophet's Song», «Teo Torriatte» and «Bohemian Rhapsody». They also showed their musical breadth with songs such as «Seaside Rendezvous», «Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon» and «The Millionaire Waltz».
In addition to the big hits we get to hear songs from the two classic albums that few tribute bands dare to tackle. This is truly the concert for Queen connoisseurs and music lovers.
Audiences will of course also get a «Best of» section with some of the biggest hits that were to come later, before it all ends with a finale with a guaranteed sing-along.
Welcome to Norway's first and greatest Queen tribute!
