Triosphere – Norwegian Heavy Metal at its finest
The Norwegian heavy metal band Triosphere was formed in 2004 by guitarist Marius Bergesen and vocalist and bassist Ida Haukland. Drummer Ørjan Aare Jørgensen joined the band early on, followed by guitarist Tor Ole Byberg in 2006. The band parted ways amicably with Jørgensen in 2014, welcoming Kenneth Tårneby as their new drummer.
Triosphere's music lies at the crossroads of hard rock, power metal, progressive metal and thrash metal. Their distinctive sound combines honest, hard-hitting songs ranging from the heaviest to the most delicate, and from intricate compositions to classic metal. Everything is underpinned by strong melodies and compelling guitar work.
Triosphere released their debut album, Onwards, on FaceFront Records in 2006/2007. The album received outstanding reviews and won the award for Best Metal Album from the world's largest independent music organisation, JPF, at its annual JPF Awards in Nashville in 2009.
In 2010, the band signed with AFM Records, which released their second album, The Road Less Travelled (2010), followed by The Heart of the Matter (2014). Both albums received widespread international critical acclaim and helped the band build an ever-growing worldwide following.
Following an extended period of touring and live performances, songwriting, the pandemic and, finally, recording sessions at both Fascination Street Studios and their own home studio, Triosphere signed with the renowned record label Frontiers Music Srl in the summer of 2025.
The long-awaited fourth album, Oceans Above, Stars Below, is finally ready for release on 28 August 2026.
Over the years, the band has had the pleasure of touring with some of the biggest names in rock and metal. Their first tours in 2006 and 2007 were alongside W.A.S.P. and Timo Kotipelto. In the years that followed, they toured Europe with artists including Arch Enemy, Jørn, Crimson Glory and Sirenia, as well as touring twice with both Sonata Arctica and Kamelot.
They have also supported Dio and Nightwish and performed at major festivals including Wacken Open Air, ProgPower USA, 70,000 Tons of Metal, Tons of Rock and Metaldays, to name just a few.
The band's consistently high standards, both in the studio and on stage, have earned them a loyal audience and dedicated listeners around the world. It has been a long wait, but the new album captures the very essence of Triosphere and proves that the band is well and truly back.
The band's own words
“This has been a long, loooong journey! But we are happy and proud to say that, once again, we feel we've created a powerful, killer album. We are incredibly excited to have joined forces with the fantastic Frontiers Music to bring it to the world.
This is a more intense album, both in atmosphere and tempo, with hooks and melodies that are stronger than ever. We hope and believe that listeners will feel the wait has been well worth it.
As with the previous album, we knew we wanted the legendary Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios to mix the record. At the time, the studio had brand-new, fantastic facilities, so we also decided to record the drums and vocals there, working alongside the outstanding engineer and producer Alexander Backlund. This has taken the sound quality to a whole new level, and we cannot wait to finally share it with the rest of the world.”
