Our own librarian Maria has published a novel and invites you to a book talk!
Maria Aano Reme is a children’s and young adult librarian in Randaberg. She has long worked as a translator for ICORN (Cities of Refuge) writers, and last autumn she made her debut as a novelist for adults with the book Tegneren (The Artist).
The novel is about the friendship between a former guerrilla fighter from Palestine and a young boy. Its themes include loss and hopelessness, trauma and reconciliation, and perhaps above all the power of drawing – or art – and unexpected magic.
Come and hear Maria read from the book and talk about her writing process, and about why she writes about Palestine and Lebanon.
