Vamp have established themselves as one of Norway’s best-loved bands and have become part of the Norwegian cultural landscape through their powerful folk-rock and distinctive fusion of music and poetry.
For well over three decades, they have released hundreds of songs about what it means to be human: love and sorrow, myths and ghosts, honesty and betrayal, death and life. And the sea.
The poetry of Kolbein Falkeid played a central role in the band’s lyrical expression from the very beginning, supported by captivating melodies and rich instrumentation.
Vamp were formed in Haugesund in 1991, and their debut album, God Morgen Søster, was released in 1993. They won a Spellemann Award at the first attempt and immediately attracted a large and devoted audience, which they have continued to cultivate through extensive touring across Norway.
In 2025, Vamp completed their I full symfoni trilogy, recorded with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, followed by a tour with some of the country’s leading symphony orchestras.
In autumn 2025, they staged the theatre production Våken Drøm, based on Vamp’s musical universe, with the band performing on stage alongside the actors. The first half of 2026 also saw the release of another studio album.
Across 18 album releases, Vamp have sold more than one million records and received five Spellemann Awards, as well as the Prøysen Prize and the Medaas Prize.
With a catalogue packed with much-loved songs such as Tir n'a Noir, Månemannen, Liten fuggel, Ingeborg, På bredden and 13 humler, Vamp have become an institution in Norwegian music, with a unique ability to combine tradition and contemporary influences – finding their way into the hearts of several generations of listeners.
