Zum Hauptinhalt

West Side Story School Edition takes the audience to 1950s New York, where rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, fight for power and respect. Amidst the chaos, a forbidden love blossoms between Tony and Maria – a story of hope, identity and the dream of peace.

Inspired by Romeo and Juliet

The musical, written by Leonard Bernstein and Arthur Laurents, with music by Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, is a modern interpretation of Shakespeare's classic tragedy. With powerful songs, intense dance and strong emotions, West Side Story has moved audiences around the world since its Broadway premiere in 1957.

The students take centre stage

In this production, students from Skeisvang Upper Secondary School, music, dance and drama, are behind everything – from acting and dancing to music, costumes and set design. Together, they create a performance that exudes creativity and youthful enthusiasm.

An evening for everyone

West Side Story School Edition is recommended for ages 8 and up and lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes, including intermission. Audiences can look forward to a magnificent musical experience full of enthusiasm, energy and a genuine love of the performing arts.
