WINTERSTØ to Plogen Cultural Centre
As Plogen Cultural Centre opens its doors to live music, Terje Winterstø Røthing, known for his work with Kaizers Orchestra and Skambankt, will take to the new stage as the first performer with his solo project, WINTERSTØ.
With deep roots in Klepp, Terje Winterstø Røthing is a natural and symbolic choice for the opening concert. Growing up in Verdalen and spending formative years in the local music scene surrounding Klepp Rock Club helped shape a musical career defined by powerful songs and distinctive rock. Rehearsals at Storhaug in Klepp also led to meetings with Geir Zahl and Janove Ottesen, which would later mark the beginning of one of Norway’s most distinctive rock adventures.
After many years as a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist with Skambankt, and as a guitarist with Kaizers Orchestra, Terje Winterstø Røthing made his solo debut this year with the album Verdalen Zoo. The title clearly reflects his roots while capturing stories from a lifetime in music. Stavanger Aftenblad awarded the album five out of six.
At Plogen Cultural Centre, WINTERSTØ will perform backed by a large band. Over the past year, the project has developed into a powerful, tight-knit live act, delivering performances full of energy, intimacy and musical enjoyment. This was recently reinforced by a performance on the main stage at the Mablis Festival, where WINTERSTØ demonstrated that the project has truly found its feet on stage.
The setlist will feature tracks from Verdalen Zoo, alongside selected songs from the Skambankt catalogue, presented in fresh new arrangements. These interpretations reveal new musical nuances while retaining the power, melodies and lyrics that audiences know and love.
The opening concert marks a new beginning for Plogen Cultural Centre while celebrating the local music heritage. With roots in Verdalen, a strong connection to Klepp and a band at the top of its game, everything is in place for a memorable evening.
A warm, spectacular and distinctly local opening night awaits, featuring tracks from Verdalen Zoo, reimagined Skambankt favourites, stories from a lifetime in music and a band performing with passion, power and confidence.
