SignaTUR MASSIV – from Sota Sæter to Haukeliseter
SignaTUR MASSIV is one of the Norwegian Trekking Association’s (DNT) selected long-distance hikes, taking you through some of the most spectacular mountain regions in Southern Norway. The route is approximately 350 km long and stretches from Sota Sæter in Breheimen to Haukeliseter on Hardangervidda. The hike can be completed in one continuous journey or divided into several stages.
Stage 1: Breheimen (49.5 km – 2 days)
Sota Sæter – Nørdstedalseter (24 km)
Nørdstedalseter – Sognefjellshytta (25 km)
A demanding mountain route through magnificent glacier and alpine landscapes, with views of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier and the Breheimen mountains. Expect long ascents, rocky terrain, and spectacular valleys.

Stage 2: Jotunheimen (66.6 km – 4 days)
Sognefjellshytta – Fannaråkhytta
Fannaråkhytta – Skogadalsbøen
Skogadalsbøen – Fondsbu
Fondsbu – Slettningsbu – Sulebu
A varied high-mountain trek featuring glacier crossings, the summit of Fannaråken, lush valleys, and views of several of Jotunheimen’s most famous peaks.

Stage 3: Skarvheimen (103.6 km – 6 days)
Sulebu – Skarvheim
Skarvheim – Bjordalsbu
Bjordalsbu – Iungsdalshytta
Iungsdalshytta – Geiterygghytta
Geiterygghytta – Finsehytta
A long stage through a diverse mountain landscape with open plateaus, green valleys, beautiful lakes, and several of DNT’s popular mountain lodges.

Stage 4: Hardangervidda (122.8 km – 6 days)
Finsehytta – Krækkja
Krækkja – Stigstuv
Stigstuv – Sandhaug
Sandhaug – Litlos
Litlos – Hellevassbu
Hellevassbu – Haukeliseter
The final stage crosses the western part of Hardangervidda. Here, you will experience vast open landscapes, well-marked trails, and iconic views of Hårteigen, often referred to as the landmark of the plateau. The route passes through important wild reindeer habitats, so hikers should show special consideration for nature and wildlife.
