Although the first half of this hike is very steep, it is a nice walking route, and the mining road is in good condition. The first half hour is uphill. However, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of the area. A short distance up the hill, a beautiful view of the lake Lundevann emerges. The lake stretches all the way from the centre of Moi to Åna-Sira. The lake, Lundevann, is one of the deepest lakes in Norway. We also recommend that you visit the idyllic lake Gullvann. Fishing in Gullvann is allowed, but a fishing license is required.
At Gursli you first arrive at «Jentehytta» (The Girls’ Cabin). The cabin has been restored and painted recently and is open for visitors. So, feel free to spend some time there and have a coffee break. Following the road further on, you get to the very place where the ore was crushed. One of the crushers is still there. Rusty and useless of course, but it is a strong symbol of a bygone era. Here you will find a picnic area with a table. The mines are located within a short walking distance of the picnic area. If you want to experience the entrance of the mines, you need to walk for a few more minutes on the footpath along the water. First, you will see a solitary mine entrance. Walking a little further, you will enter a small mountain hall with an entrance to three mines.
