Zum Hauptinhalt

Rønnstadhelleren is localized by Hellershammaren in Rået (56 m.a.s.l). It's named after the closest farmstead, Rønstad. The entrance is triangle shaped and looks like it has been masoned in stone a long time ago. It's also been used as a summer barn for livestock in earlier days.

Archeological excavations in the rock shelter has revealed layers of shell and animal bones mixed with Birch Bark. This shows traces of an early occupation by humans. They've also discovered remains of a firepit as well as a bone comb that's dated back to 200 BC. This comb can today be found at Bergen Museum.
